Taylor B.'s Essay

“My dream for the future is…”
It’s interesting to see the views people hold of the future. To some, the future seems to hold excitement, personal discovery, opportunities, and events that will mold and shape them. To others, the future is a daunting, scary place filled with uncertainty and unwanted changes. Through my life with Cystic Fibrosis, I have felt and seen both of these scenarios. From the time when my high school soccer team made it to the state final four and feeling that anything was possible, to the time when I laid in a hospital bed for three weeks, wondering what was happening to my health. From the time when I was filled with excitement after opening my college acceptance, to the time when I watched my sister battle CF and pass away at age 7; it seems that life always gives us times when we look forward with excitement, and other times when all we feel is dread.
As I sit here writing this essay, I realize that my dream is not to have those difficult moments removed from my life, but to always be able to learn from them. I want to look forward to a future with challenges knowing that something amazing is right around the bend. My dream is to take whatever life throws at me, and find the triumph in all that I do and have been given. My dream isn’t just to live life, anyone can do that. My dream is to conquer it.
