“My dream for the future is…”

My dream for the future is to utilize my talents to help others live out their “My dream for the future” essays. When I was little, I never went through the typical childhood phases of wanting to be a firefighter one day and a ballerina the next. I am told that I used to constantly tote around my play doctor bag complete with a noise-making stethoscope, a rubber thermometer, and a box of neon yellow Band-Aids. Even at the tender age of tree, it was evident that I wanted to become a doctor.

For a person with Cystic Fibrosis this dream might seem out of reach. However, knowing that my future, in large part, is already foretold makes me strive to defy gravity. As far as I am concerned, nothing is going to stand in my way. I fully intend to double major in biology and environmental studies in college, to attend medical school, and to become a world-renowned reconstructive surgeon. Once I have perfected my surgical techniques, my dream is to donate my time and skills to helping those most in need by becoming a Doctor Without Borders.

I realize that my aspirations are quite high, but I possess an unwavering determination to fulfill them. Although my doctors tell me that my plans will likely be sidetracked or that I will have to take a major detour, what reason is there for not trying?
