Erin H.'s Essay

“My dream for the future is…”
My dream for the future is a life with a cure to Cystic Fibrosis (CF), a life free of therapy and hospitals, IVs and surgery, free of a fear that my future may be limited. I dream of finishing college and even going on to grad school. I hope to travel the world and eventually settle down and start my own family. I hold all of these dreams close to my heart, but the dream that helps me fight my battle with CF every day is my dream for tomorrow.
Having CF has taught me that life is not measured in years but in moments, and I fight CF every day for the moments that make my life special. I control the quality of the moments in my life by my attitude and I am determined to have as many moments I can in the time I have. I have learned that time is simply what you make it. My dream is that if I don’t have next year, I will have made tomorrow worth living.
I dream of the future, but I live in the day, and I strive for tomorrow. When I am discouraged in my battle with CF and I doubt the future, I hold onto the concrete tomorrow. I don’t know where I will be 10 years from now, and I don’t know exactly where tomorrow will take me; but I do know I am determined to see what tomorrow has in store for me.
