Emily F.'s Essay

“My dream for the future is…”
My dream for the immediate future is to attend college at UCLA. I plan to study communications and media journalism in hopes of becoming an anchor on a national television network. From the time I was young I have been enthralled by the excitement of news stories on shows like the Today Show and Good Morning America. Each morning I watch these shows, I am inspired to continue working toward my dream career. Another equally important aspiration I have for the future is to get married and have a family of my own. I enjoy working with the younger kids at my church and local elementary school, so becoming a mother is a definite dream for my future. My main goal however is to continue to embrace the difficulties presented by a life with Cystic Fibrosis rather than be defined by them. So far I have not let CF dictate my life. I have kept myself healthy with the help of my family and health care physicians and I plan to continue to do so in the future. Like anyone living with CF, my ultimate dream is that I am living to see the day a cure is found for this genetic disease. I hope that I am here to see the product of so many donations, dedicated research and thoughtful words and prayers of many. My hope for the future is that the cure for CF is near and the scientists are not far from it.
