Catherine P.'s Essay

“My dream for the future is…”
My dream for the future is to leave the world a better place than it was when I entered it. An undoubtedly expansive ambition, I admit. However, there are many ways I see myself attaining this goal, from picking up trash to teaching workshops to revising the law. I have already taken steps towards making my prospective dream a present reality through scholarly service on campus and in the community. Being a Sunday school teacher has helped me tremendously in creating a better world. I have unreservedly adopted the four hallmarks of scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship, and I implement these cornerstones in every aspect of my life. In the future, I see myself as a United States Senator, tirelessly working for the common good from the inside. In my mind’s eye, I picture myself affecting even more lives than I already have. Of course, I am aware that achieving this dream will require years of hard work and dedication, but I am positive that I am up for the challenge. If there is one thing that I know I can do without doubt, it is overcoming the odds to achieve my dreams. I know that with knowledge and a degree, I can assure that the future as I see it now will one day be the present.
