Alexander D.'s Essay

My dream for the future is..
My dream for the future is to never give up hope. Without a doubt, a life guarded by the boundaries of Cystic Fibrosis requires hope. Without it, we would have no reason to keep fighting. In my life, hope not only motivates me to remain compliant with my meticulous treatments, but it also gives me the strength I need to uphold my aspirations: to pursue a career in the medical field.
At six months of age, I was diagnosed with CF after a long, stressful process. Although I do not remember these early days, I realize that the perseverance of both my parents and my doctors is the main reason I live healthily with CF today. Now, it is my responsibility to persevere; it is my time to give hope. The reason I aspire for a medical career, along with my life-long fascination of biology, is to give back to the patient community.
Already I have been active in my local area. Many of my extracurricular activities include health related community service, not just for the CF community, but also for other prevailing medical issues.
While 250 words may not be enough words to fully express all my exact dreams and goals, I recognize that hope is the best medicine for any problem. I don't know what the future holds in store, but I do know that I will never let the limitations of CF take over my life because I will always have hope.
