Kylie T.'s Essay

Living with CF has taught me to live life to the fullest, to have a positive attitude and take nothing for granted. I was diagnosed with CF when I was three days old. The diagnosis was actually a blessing because I have never known life as a normal person. I have always lived and breathed with the diagnosis of CF. My doctor has stated often she “wishes she could replicate me,” and this is because I want to stay healthy to live fully. I value the fact that I am active and able to live fully! I preach it to anyone who will listen. I get a little upset with those who live as if they are sick, because they control so much of their own destiny. My parents have raised me to be happy, positive and to live each day to the fullest. I’m not sick, but I am Kylie. I stay very active to stay healthy. I literally have argued with my coaches that I have CF, because they simply did not believe it. I believe that my attitude and mind set to be happy has made me a healthier person. My goal is to live to see a cure. My life motto is “life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments we live that take our breath away!” My doctor states I have control over my disease, it doesn’t control me. I think I will live by that theory.
